Dual Credit – Equipment Only Grant

A 1-Year Grant with an award amount of $50,000-$225,000. The Dual Credit – Equipment Only grant is funded in an effort to respond to industry demands for skilled workers in technical fields. The grant allows high school students to enroll in post-secondary classes, while simultaneously completing high school coursework. This provides students the ability to get a jumpstart on their education or career goals as they earn credits toward a degree or professional credential while still in school.

Jobs and Education for Texans (JET)

A 1-Year Grant with an award amount of $50,000-$350,000. The JET Program provides grants to defray the start-up costs associated with developing career and technical education programs. The JET provides potential economic returns through: 1) Supporting new, emerging industries or high-demand occupations; and 2) Offering new or expanded dual credit career and technical educational opportunities in public high schools.

21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC)

A 5-Year Grant with a $50,000-$1,800,000 award amount per year. The purpose of the Texas 21st CCLC Grant Program is to provide opportunities beyond the regular school day for communities to establish or expand activities in learning centers that: provide opportunities for academic enrichment; offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities which are designed to reinforce and compliment the regular academic program; and offer families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for literacy and related educational development.

Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP)

A multi-year grant with awards ranging up to 9 million dollars. The NFP is designed to replicate a model nurse home-visiting program targeted on first-time mothers living in poverty. The program provides first-time moms with valuable knowledge and support throughout their pregnancy and until their babies reach two years of age. Partnering first-time moms with caring nurse home visitors empowers mothers to confidently create a better life for their children and themselves.

Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention

A 1-Year Grant with a variable award amount. The Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Program provides support programs that prevent violence in and around schools and to improve the juvenile justice system. The program helps develop effective education, training, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency.

Energy Efficiency Incentive Grant

A 1-Year Grant with a variable award amount. SECO provides numerous energy efficiency grants such as: Texas Cool Schools (purchase new energy efficient heating and cooling systems); LoanSTAR Revolving Loan Program (loans payed back through cost savings generated by the project); and the Alternative Fuel Program (allows districts to operate more of their fleets on alternative fuels).

Texas Title I Priority Schools (TTIPS Grant)

A 4-year Grant with a $50,000-$8,000,000 total award amount. The purpose of the Texas Title I Priority Schools (TTIPS) Grant program is to provide funding to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to implement new strategies in order to turn around struggling campuses classified as Priority or Focus. This may include replacing the school leadership, rewarding teachers and leader effectiveness, adopting new instructional programs, extending learning time for students and staff, etc.

Texas Literacy Initiative Grant (TLI)

A 5-Year Grant with a $200,000-$10,000,000 award amount per year. The purpose of the Texas Literacy Initiative grant is to improve school readiness and success in the areas of language and literacy for disadvantaged students in targeted school districts. The goals of the grant program are to (1) increase the oral language and pre-literacy skills of participating preschool children; (2) improve the performance of participating K–2 students on early reading assessments; (3) increase the percentage of participating students who meet or exceed proficiency on the state English language arts assessments in grades 3–12; (4) increase the use of data and data analysis to inform all decision making in participating districts, campuses, classrooms, and early learning settings; and (5) increase the implementation of effective literacy instruction through Literacy Lines.

Adult Education/TANF

A 1-Year Grant with a variable award amount. The purpose of this program is to assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency; assist adults who are parents to obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children; assist adults in the completion of a secondary school education; and provide literacy, English language proficiency for limited English proficient adults.

Carol M. White Physical Education

A 3-Year Grant with a $200,000-$800,000 award amount per year. The purpose of the Carol M. White Physical Education Program is to provide grants to LEAs and community-based organizations (CBOs) to initiate, expand, or enhance physical education programs, including after-school programs, for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.


Texas Clean School Bus Program

A 1-Year Grant with a variable award amount. The Texas Clean School Bus program is a comprehensive program designed to reduce emissions of diesel exhaust by retrofitting older school buses. Grants awarded through this program help schools purchase and install emissions-reduction technologies. The program will award funds to school districts and charter schools as reimbursement for the cost of eligible projects that reduce diesel-exhaust emissions.


Violence Against Women Act

A 1-Year Grant with a variable award amount. The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Recovery Act Program provides assistance in developing and strengthening effective law enforcement and prosecution strategies to combat violent crimes against women and to develop and strengthen victim services in such cases.

Victims of Crimes Act

A 1-Year Grant with a variable award amount. The Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) provides services and assistance directly to victims of crime to speed their recovery and aid them through the criminal justice process. Services may include the following: 1) responding to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims; 2) assisting victims in stabilizing their lives after victimization; 3) assisting victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system; and 4) providing victims with safety and security.
